I'm flying on QF107 SYD-JFK next June booked via a US Airways Dividend Miles redemption. When can I expect the schedule changes to take effect? I'm assuming I'll get changed to the afternoon SYD-LAX service then connect onto a AA flight to JFK.1
The changes should be loaded into the schedule starting next week(ish).
You may get put onto the afternoon service with a connection via AA, or they may rebook connecting passengers on the earlier flight with direct QF service to JFK. Call Qantas once the schedule change loads to see about your options.
Will that be QF15 BNE-LAX-JFK? I believe that's on a 747?
I'd probably prefer the SYD-LAX on QF11 and then connect to an AA flight to JFK. That way I will be able to use the 1st class lounge in SYD. Will also get on the preferreed A380.
I'm just wondering whether I will sort options with USDM or with QF.. If the former I'm concerned that there might be issues with award availability.
If you are a SYD resident then the most likely scenario is that they will re-book you on QF11, connecting to QF15 in LAX. The new schedule is to better utilise aircraft, but I suspect that QF can now advertise the LAX/JFK schedule a their 'edge' over VA now that they offer BNE-LAX daily. SYD/MEL customers still have one stop flights to JFK, but with the superior A380 for the major leg.
As for who you deal with, speak to the airline that made the booking (i.e. US).
