Guys I see an overnight flight SYD-HKG on 06/11/2014.. Is this a new flight? I also don't see it available any other day. I want to book a classic award in business but am concerned the flight may be cancelled closer to the date.
QF127 drops the A380 before November, so that's no surprise.
Unlikely to be maintenance if it's a 744, perhaps a charter ex-HKG planned for the 7th? They've offered one-off flights to help pay the positioning costs in the past.
modog, why did you want to book this flight in particular? If it is cancelled then QF will rebook you either onto QF127 or a CX flight the same day at no extra cost.
Actually I am booked on QF87 via US Airways Dividend Miles redemption. I was concerned that if this flight is cancelled then I would be in trouble as there is no classic award availability on QF127 or any of the CX flights that day.

I don't think it's a 'new' flight, given that QFi used to run this flight several times a week year-round, but it is very interesting news.

My guess is a positioning flight to HKG for maintenance that they've decided to sell as a revenue service.

It's marked as a 744. I'll check QF 127 for that day and see if it's an A380. If it is, it's probably this.

They're both 744s. Hmm.

Flight is being operated by VH-OJT. Hopefully, modog reports back when he/she lands in HKG tomorrow morning.
