Have others had problems using Qantas Cash? I tried it for the first time on a recent trip. Loaded HKD, EUR and GBP before leaving, all in one transaction. First transaction was in Hong Kong using HKD and was declined. Tried again in case PIN entered incorrectly and declined again. Checked website, it had declined but put a hold on GBP funds. Later that day tried another purchase in Hong Kong in HKD. It debited against GBP rather than HKD, and charged a conversion fee. The HKD balance was greater than the transaction amount, so there was no reason for it to even consider using the GBP. All other transactions from that point onward had the same problem, debiting against the wrong currency and charging conversion fees. Rang Qantas Cash from Paris to be told yes it all looks wrong, but nothing they can do (outsourced call centre not related to the bank providing the card), and that I had to lodge a dispute form for each incorrect transaction and either fax or scan and email the dispute form and all the receipts. Not exactly convenient from a paris hotel.
I stopped using it immediately and used my other cards. To me this is a product with critical bugs and is simply unusuable.
Tried ANZ travel card trip to USA had same problems as above and had to pay for call back to OZ, May last used the Q Cash card in 4 Euro countries no probs at all.
I've had a recurring problem where I'm declined at P.O.S. due to card having "expired", despite having up to a year's validity remaining. Wouldn't want to be in a situation (particularly overseas) where it was the sole means of payment available.
Why would you use this card you have to transfer funds into it ,it's like paying for something in advance ,stick to your normal credit card and pay the full amount when due each month.
Thats what I fell back to. This was the first time I tried a travel card, and to be honest it will probably be the last.
Even ignoring the failure of the card to post transactions correctly, the hassle of transferring money and managing the card for me is simply not worth the trouble for the small gains in conversion fees and atm fees compared to using my regular visa/amex combination linked to my savings.
There is a lot to be said for organisations who focus on excelling in their core services.
I suspect the KPI of Qantas middle managers/executives may have gone askew for them to be taking their eyes off core services and focusing it instead on these type of ancillary services.
If there is an airline not focussing on its core business it has to be QF, they never stop making poor continual changes, this cash card is just anothe ina long line, really no better than many others.
Robert, In the next day or so I will post a question/comment about the QF flight I came home on - which I have lodged 'feedback' with QF customer care about and await a response. That one will really give you something to fire up about!

Have used it a number of times overseas, with different and multiple wallets in the past year without issue.

You may not get a response for several weeks. I submitted a feedback report for something in late July. I got the call this morning.
I did get compensated quite nicely, though.
