Considering booking a multi city itinerary with United or Delta departing from Sydney to the USA. I have had some conflicting information regarding the checked baggage charges. Is someone able to confirm whether checked baggage charges will apply for domestic flights internally, even if they are booked on the one PNR which includes the flights to and from Sydney.

If you book with Delta and place all the internatal flights under the same PNR, yes checked baggage will be included. I regulary fly with Delta from Sydney - USA with a lot of internal flying. I have never had a charge for domestic baggage.

It normally depends on how the itinerary is priced. If it prices with a single international fare basis then the baggage rules of that fare apply to all flights. If your itinerary involves a mix of international fares and us domestic fares, which often happens if there are a lot of legs involved as it is normally cheaper , then some of your internal us flights may not include baggage. There are so many ways us fares can be priced, and it is often worth looking at the cost of internal us flight in business or first class as on some routes it does not cost a lot more your baggage is included and seat more comfortable
