Qantas Syd-Jfk (Aa codeshared)
Hi, i booked a flight on american airlines website sydney-new york for next week. economy class (S). all on qantas metal.
Since i booked on aa.com do i get the base miles of american airlines since i booked online with them as a codeshare or do i get the base miles of qantas since its on there metal? aa is 100% base miles while qantas is 50%
thanks for your replies once again hehe. cheers!

benjo,
What's the flight number on your ticket? If it's a 73 series, you're book as an AA code and will accrue as per AA rates.
Highly likely that your booking is on AA codes, given you've booked via the AA website.

once again your the 1st to reply, idk the exact flight number but i did notice its a 73 series...
so in general, anything booked on aa.com as a codeshare will earn me aa rates regardless of the operating aircraft/airline? thanks.

That is correct. Those flights will also count towards an AA segment. You will find mileage/EQM/EQP will accrue to your Aadvantage account overnight when flying on AA codes (as opposed to a few days when its not on AA codes).
If you have any OW status, you should do the following to confirm seats:
1) Call AA (they provide a Sydney number) and ask for the Qantas PNR
2) Log in to the Qantas website with the Qantas PNR and select your seats to ensure you get decent seats on the long hop across the Pacific.
3) View your booking on the AA website to confirm the seats selected has been recorded accurately.

I think you can skip calling AA to find out your Qantas PNR.
Qantas website appears to have learnt how to recognise AA booking codes and will likely match it to the right Qantas PNR.
At least it worked for me the last couple of times I tried it.

Oh thanks for the heads up dimi!
I think AA must be using some sort of Amadeus interface to its Sabre system. When you make an online booking on the AA website, you see "amadeus" in the URL.
I've never thought it could work (AA pnr on QF site) but should have realised something was in play given the seamless data capture across both aa and qantas sites.
