Hi, I'm hoping to exploit my full 3 checked bags allowance from CBR to MCY and one leg is on an ATR. I can't find anything online about aircraft limits.
I know Qantas has limits on Dash 8 services. Are there additional limits enforced by Virgin on the ATRs?
This is a fantastic question, and unfortuantely I have no idea, I'd love to know the answer though as I'm in the same boat at the end of the week from CBR-SYD.
Im not sure if you mean sizes of luggage etc, only thing I have ever come across is max length 6ft on the smaller aircraft. Otherwise your ticketed allowance is applicable on all services?
Having a look around the VA website, (I assume you are a Platinum Velocity member aswell?) We know we have 3 X 23 in Y and 3 X 32kg in J for all flights as complimentary. If we wished to purchase extra on top each passenger is entitled to a total max of 9 checked items. It does say some restrictions may apply to this on ATR aircraft, although it only says MAY. So if you had 9 bags to check in I might be concerned but you should get away with 3 unless it is a VERY full flight.
As a Platinum member I highly doubt you will be told no though in any case. They will work something out.
We will use all reasonable endeavours to ensure carriage of your Baggage, including Checked Baggage, on the same flight as you. However, in some circumstances, aircraft operational limitations (for example, aircraft weight restrictions caused by unusually strong headwinds or very hot weather) may mean we are unable to carry your baggage on the same flight as you.
So either way you wont (and I won't) have any problems with our ticketed or status based allowances.
