I know they need to have time to do repairs and give them a solid tidy, but it's always annoying....
I would like to know this too...

They usually announce the closures to the Domestic Business lounges in the first week of December.
International lounges, including the First lounges, usually remain unaffected.

I understand why they do it but the lack of candour is annoying. Repair/Maintenance/Cleaning as reasons are just lame.
We all know over the holiday period the volume of passengers, particularly business drops. It makes more financial sense to operate one lounge.

The lounges are closed for 6-7 hours overnight every night. That's 25% of each day that Qantas could utilise to do all this 'cleaning' that they apparently need to do.
If it really is 'cleaning' as they claim, then when do they find the time to 'clean' all their other lounges which are open 365 days a year? I don't mind the closure per se, but I agree with TRB - just be honest about it.
