I am booking flights to the US in February and have noticed that VA will be flying one of there A330-200 between Sydney & Hawaii. Is this true or just a misunderstanding and the flight will be operated by Hawaiian Airlines?
You can have a look at http://www.flightaware.com to see who is the provider, if nothing comes up, try looking for SYD to HNL on Hawaiian website, write down flight number, try that on Flight Aware, you will see its very likely the same time leaving SYD.

If you like to travel the real Virgin Australia, you could also do VA Boeing 777 from SYD to LAX.
Yes, and backtrack, which is not your ideal, as it waste time, eh?
Using the opposition, QF, from Jan/Feb 15, QF3 will fly SYD to HNL. QF4 back. Aud$635 and Aud$521. 14 Feb and 21 Feb. Airbus 330, and you can start earning QF FF points and QF SCs. Aye, maybe not your ultimate aim of amassing VA FF points.
Will shut up on this post now. Sorry for the prattle.
Thank you all. I have booked a DL ticket to LAX operated by VA. I will then be staying mainland for a week before heading to Hawaii again with DL. However,on my return, I have booked a one way ticket with QF back to SYD. This option worked out considerably cheaper.

Are the flight numbers that you can see VA5100 and VA5101?
If so, that a Hawaiian Airlines flight with a Virgin Australia codeshare.

Ok Chris.
Martin, you could go with JQ or colloqually, DeathStar!
I think that there was talk QF is going to be doing the route again, (I could be wrong though).
OR maybe go with DL to the US mainland and backtrack with something apart from HA.
