Flightradar24.com Can anyone shed any light as to why VA683 from Melbourne to Perth (right now) flew up to NT, over Uluru and then down to Perth? The aircraft departed 2 hrs late and is landing 2:45 late??
Sidetracked by extra terrestrials who frequent central Australia for sure. Those onboard are probably unaware of any lost time, despite ageing several years between take-off and landing...
By the looks of it an HF radio, or other equipment failure, that has meant the aircraft cannot fly through designated remote areas or across the bite. Without a working HF they can't go across the Nullabor or the bite due to being a remote area. The flight path neatly circles the remote area in WA.
+1 to that Boof..I recall reading about another VA flight a month or 2 ago took a similar (strange) route , and those in the know gave this very reason.
I was flying PER-SYD a few weeks ago and the flight plan was just that: flying North of Alice Springs to avoid weather as their weather radar was faulty. They ended up cancelling that service and put us on a 737. The flight the night before was cancelled too and when I was in the lounge a week later in SYD they said there was another PER-SYD service cancelled on the A330. Something up with those 330's it would seem.
