It may be called something else, but the TRS scehem also applies to Australian tourists departing from Australia on goods they have purchased less than 30 days prior to departure.  I purchased an early iPad2 about 3 weeks before leaving, was able to use it at home prior, and had my odd $90 GST credited to my account soon after.
