Star Alliance membership – access to Sydney's Singapore Airlines lounge?

I was just reading a review on Aussie Flyer where he was taking an Air NZ flight Sydney to Auckland and mentions that as a Gold Star Alliance flyer he went to the Singapore Airlines Lounge. Is that correct. I am Gold Thai and would do anything to avoid the Air NZ lounge ( both old and current temporary) So I am entitled to the SIN airlines Lounge as Gold Star Alliance flying TG or Air NZ??

Yes, you have access. However, and I cannot stress this enough, if you want to actually get past the lounge dragons, it is strongly recommended that you come prepared. Go find the Star Alliance lounge access rules that explicitly allow you to access the SQ lounge in SYD when flying TG or NZ and print out a copy to bring with you to the airport.

The rules say yes, but the lounge dragons have given trouble before and I know of people who have been turned away despite being on a Star Alliance carrier in a premium cabin. The paper doesn't lie, so it's your default-win card to play if you need to.

I found the SQ lounge staff very welcoming when flying TG F, there was no issue with access, and after being seated we were asked what food we'd like to be cooked for us as there wasn't much in the buffet at the time.

I need to qualify this. TG Gold but mostly fly economy. Maybe that will bring out the Dragonistas...

I am flying NZ D SYD - AKL, (D which is a subclass of J as we all know), but I am so scared that I might be shooed off from getting into the SQ KF lounge at SYDi early next year.

OP, I can feel your apprehension. I am only VA PS, not even SG, and VA is not in *A, not to mention you are TG SG!

I will come back after Australia Day long weekend to say if I made it into the SQ KF lounge or not, (if get shooed to go back to the NZ Koru Club temp lounge).
