Points and Pay on VA. If you book a flight with points and pay and the majority of the fare is paid for and you only use some points e.g. 75% of fare is paid and 25% of fare use points, does that count as a redemption fare when it comes to FF points and status credits?
As far as I know, it depends on what type of redemption you're doing - if it's a Reward seat, no status for the flight, but if its an Any Seat booking, you earn status.
If you search for a fare using Points plus pay, you will notice 2 very different options. For example, Perth to Sydney in business results in one fare called "Business Reward" at 33800 points plus $16.75 and another fare called "Business Class" at 260500 points plus $186 dollars.
So one fare is around 10 times more expensive (in points and dollars), so I'd suggest you would earn points and status credits on this more expensive fare. And the Velocity website says you do not earn points on "Rewards" fares, so I'd say the "Business Rewards" fare would not earn any points or status credits, no matter what portion of the fare you select to pay in cash.
