Qantas club membership when achieving FF gold status? I bought a Qantas club membership back in August 2014, due to a bit of upcoming travel, however I'm now about to reach Gold (January) - does anybody know what happens to the QC membership? Does Qantas suspend it until my gold status expires or does it simply go to waste? Thanks!

They suspend it until gold status expires.

Which is all well and good until you hit LTG, whereupon for the customer to reactivate their QP membership to use the remaining months, they need to die (so LTG expires) and then come back from the dead (to use the remaing QP).

I'm thinking, you have a LTG with suspended QC who has a heart attack, flatlines (technically dead) before being resuscitated and zapped back to the living. Can he have his QC clock running while moving towards the light (in the hopes he can use the premium check-in)? :-)

I suppose any near-death experience counts.

Yes, moa999 is right. When I first started flying Qantas back in 1999 I took out Qantas Club membership (a year's membership was paid) but it ended up being placed in hold because I hit Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold before the year was out. And as I keep hitting Gold for more than a decade, that Qantas Club membership kept being placed in hold. It was only reactivated a couple of years back when I temporarily dipped to Silver - it had been so long I had almost forgetten I ever was a paid QC member at one time lol.
So be assured, you won't lose a day of your remaining QC membership. They'll only start the clock again if you drop back to Silver, whether that's next week or next decade!
