Qantas upgrades from Dallas to Sydney in May 2015

Hi all

I just wanted to gain your thoughts on the chance of a Qantas upgrade from Dallas to Sydney on a Saturday in May 2015?

I'm a bronze frequent flyer. Have any other bronze frequent fliers been upgraded on this route?

Fingers crossed for an upgrade on the world's longest flight (the upgrade will make the flight a bit more bearable!)

The thing is upgrades are done in priority of FF status.  As a bronze FF, you are at the bottom of the pile for upgrades.  The best option would be to request the upgrade and request the on departure/last minute upgrade in case of no shows.

I would be preparing myself to travel in the class you paid for... I would think Saturday is a busy day and the Dallas - Syd flight has seat restrictions so less seats available anyway. Are you in economy or premium economy?

Bronze no chance

Just try it out, you can only gain by putting it in. Obviously be mindful that it isn't guranteed, but I think you will be fine. I was a bronze and got upgraded from Economy to Business on a full 767 from Sydney to Honolulu on the first day of school holidays about 6 months ago. I got it 24 hours before aswell.
