Hello I checked the Qantas website and they said they will be launching a direct service to Istanbul from Perth. I am not sure if it's only for the ANZAC day period or a permanent addition? Many thanks, and I am too late to ask Qantas through Twitter since it is 1am.
From my point of interest (Odessa) there is direct fly to Istanbul. Nowadays it is getting very difficult to fly to/from Ukraine by-pass Emirates/Etihad and I do not like either. BA still flying - probably not for long - and one has to fly to LHR and back - some extra 5-6 hours in air. Istanbul very nice transit point, but currently served only by Turks. I would rather prefer Qantas.
Would be even more awesome if they restore direct fly to Frankfurt or replace it with Paris. They definitely can alternate MEL/SYD-LHR to FRA and/or CDG - flying two planes on the same day to LHR is kind of waste IMHO. Then if they fly both planes at approx the same time pax from say SYD can catch MEL plane to FRA/CDG and vise versa. Just wet dreaming.
The double daily flights to London and the multiple daily flights to points in the US, is a reflection of its demand and a succinct demonstration of the affinity of the English speaking people as declared by Churchill. Even from our corner of the world the shared culture, traditions, language and kinship ties is not eroded and represents the elephant in the room, when we engage with Asia and in the case of Britain, when it engages with Europe.

It is only for the ANZAC memorial service. There is currently no plan to launch PER-IST on QF metal as a normal revenue service.

Pity - it would be an excellent regular route.

The flight is SYD-PER-SAW and return, QF100/101. As watson374 said, a once off only.

Would be awesome if they manage to do a Sydney/Perth to Paris direct service for the D-Day memorial.

Thanks for explanation. Now I know:
1. Why exactly QF marries with EK instead of BA and
2. Why we accept more migrants from Middle East and North Africa instead of Europe
Cheers

QF is very much like the country it calls home, if they don't already call Dubai home.
