Looking for some cheaper one way fares to CDG from MEL in Y for my elderly in laws ( no long layovers and a single stop preferred). Do any of the premium carriers ( EK, QF, EY, CX etc) offer fares which are around 50% of return fare. I have 180 000 qf FF points ( likely to be 280 000 by end feb) which I can use but would rather pay cash.

obabpointer,

Best place to check is with Expedia. Sounds like you know which airlines you're interested in. Just do a search and see what these offer. Only low cost carriers offer that sort of (50% for one way) fee structure. Be prepared to pay more than 50% the return fare. I presume there is some logic in purchasing a one-way fare?

Cheapest way would be to buy separate ticket to BKK + BKK-CDG by Finnair. Layover is overnight though and they have to change plane in Helsinki also..
