QF sell First class to HKG, they need the 4 class 747 to sell F on the 3 days a week the A380 does not fly. It is also a highly competative edge being able to offer 'F' as CX do not offer it on routes to/from Australia.
I would imagine that we are more likley to see QF 127/128 go A380 daily at some point in the future, it will be interesting to see what happens when all 12 A380s are in regular operational cycle, and not undergoig reconfig. etc in Manila.

I'm flying HKG-SYD on QF128 on a Monday, so no A380.

No the 747 will not be refurbished. These operate on Trans Pacific Flights only.

Only in future has qantas hinted updated 747 to HK... I think. But why put a refurb 747 on when you already have an a380??
