As I understand the fine print, Points Plus Pay is effectively an Any Seat Award with a partial cash component, so it should book into an ASA bucket which should earn status credits.
You might, however, be better off shuttling back and forth on Jetstar Plus Bundles as Points Plus Pay is usually not very good in terms of redemption value.
