Manila Ninoy Aquino Airport - Lounge options
Hi everyone. I'm heading to Manila next month. Flying Qantas return. Have requested an upgrade from Economy to Business o the way back for the red-eye (as I refuse to pay for business class when they still have angled beds). If I don't get the upgrade. what lounge options do I have? Qantas operates from Terminal 1. As I understand it, there are three pay lounges in Terminal 1 - Sampaguita, Club Manila and PAGS Lounge. has anyone ever been to any of these lounges? and if so, how would you rate it? and how much money do you reckon I should have on me for a 4-5 hour stay (as I believe they may charge you for alcoholic drinks). Also, any information on lounge access fees would be appreciated. As always, thanks for any help/input/advice. Thanks

All the lounges at NAIA are pretty underwhelming, but then so is the airport (there is a reason it keeps getting awarded the worst international airport in the world). Expect small lounges, with very basic food, and soft drinks and not much else. I wouldn't go to the airport any earlier than three hours before departure unless you are desperate. It's not really a place for lingering, but the lounges I guess are marginally better than the terminal itself.

Oh, and make sure you bring a printout of your E-Ticket with you, otherwise you might have some issues with security trying to enter the airport (you can face lines to enter the airport itself as only ticket holders can enter).

Also remember that in most cases, airport security will not let you enter the terminal (to do check in) until 3hrs before you flight. We were caught out in January when we arrived at 5pm for a midnight departure (hoping to use the lounge), but we made to wait outside (or in nearby shops) until 8.45pm
