On a HGK-LHR or SIN-LHR run, which is the better business class? Cathay or BA? Looks like most of the aircraft are 777s, although BA is showing at least one A380 option. The BA site doesn't do a great job of showing off their seats which leads me to believe they are not quite as current as the CX seats. Suggestions, please?

I would go hkg to lhr with BA on the A380. I fell their F product is actually really good and on the A380 it would be awesome. I have done it on the 777 and it was excellent!

Peggy,
It depends. I'm quite fond of the BA club seats. It can be very cosy (in a good way) by the window and quite private if you're with your other half in the middle two.
Cathay seats on the other hand is private and quite spacious, although not as spacious as SQ. If travelling with an intimate other, the Cathay seats are quite limiting.
If I had to choose however, I would go for CX for two reasons:
1) I find entertainment on CX to be of better quality. The content on BA can be very hit and miss.
2) On the theme of hit and miss, I find the Cathay service to be consistently top grade.

Cannot agree more about BA seats and actually I cannot get why they condemned almost everywhere. If you choose one properly and get window one that does not required to jump over fellow pax (i.e. last business row) you will have your very own mini-suite. Moreover on my beloved 747 on second floor due to curvature of the fuselage you will have so much space and so much storage that you can eat and use laptop simultaneously. Space-wise it is more then BA own First.

Ah and about entertainment - they still have my favorite channel "Are We Here Yet", so why bother? :-)))))

The last time I flew BA you exited the window seat without having to climb over your seatmate because the seats are forward/back facing. Has that changed?

AFAIK nothing changed in BA business - majority of window seats do require you to jump over fellow pax, and it is true inconvenient. I was talking about few seats that have not got such "feature"

CX service is consistent (and good) BA service is variable (highly). CX has a better J seat.

CX is miles ahead of BA in business. Better seats, IFE and F&B.

CX from HKG and SQ from SIN. However if you paying your own money you may consider Finnair - new business in A330 is excellent. Price however is very keen - about 4.9k by AY, 6.3k by BA, 7k by SQ and whopping 8K by CX from HKG. Obvious negative is necessity to change flight in Helsinki.
