Can anyone let me know how I gain access into lounges in LAX when flying Virgin Australia.
Not flying business - flying PE but still want to have lounge access.
From memory joining the club here in Australia only provides access here in AUS/NZ.
I'm currently a Gold FF with Qantas.
Thanks - crookedFC

Ryan
Do you have Gold or Plat with VA? as thisi will allow you access to the lounges in LA regardless of class of travel
Cheers

Gold and Platinum Velocity Reward members, when flying on VA (if flying a partner airline, like Air New Zealand, bad luck) have access to the Star Alliance Business and First lounge respectively. From the VA LAX airport guide
Virgin Australia Business class guests, Velocity Platinum and Velocity Gold members can access the Star Alliance Lounge when travelling on Virgin Australia services. Velocity Platinum guests are invited to access the First Class section of the Star Alliance Lounge.
Velocity Platinum and Velocity Gold members may also invite an additional guest with whom they are travelling together with on the same flight.
The ‘Star Alliance Lounge’ is located in the new Tom Bradley International Terminal on level 6. Accessible via escalator or elevator from the main atrium area. The lounge is airside after security and accessible only by guests departing from this terminal.
Velocity Platinum and Velocity Gold members (plus a guest of their choice) can access the Virgin America 'Loft' lounge when travelling on Virgin Australia codeshare services operated by Virgin America.
Virgin Australia Business class guests, Velocity Platinum and Velocity Gold members can access the Delta Sky Club Lounge when travelling on Virgin Australia code share services operated by Delta Air Lines. Velocity Platinum and Velocity Gold members may also invite an additional guest of their choice.

Paid lounge membership with VA doesn't extend to the Star Alliance lounge at LAX from what I know - it generally only covers VA owned lounges.

Ryan you could try for a status match with Turkish Airways (a Star Alliance airline). It's not always straightforward or fast, but if you have the time you could always give it a crack.

Will he need to be flying a star airline to access the lounge though?

True hutch, my bad (had Air New Zealand on the mind).
On the plus side, since the refurbishment of TBIT, there are some decent alternatives to hang out in, out in the general a public access areas (it's way better than it used to be).

True, you can even get a half decent glass of wine at Starbucks!

Agreed. TBIT is a much improved experience.

Use the current etihad status match promotion to obtain gold and I believe it will get you access. It definitely does domestically, regardless of the flight being codeshare or just VA
