I'm hoping to fly to Budapest on the 1st July and back on the 8th. Not solid dates so plus or minus two days on each end, just need to be there for the 4th and 5th.
Planning on doing the whole stretch in Y and really only considering OW airlines. I am hoping for some expertise in routes and airlines. Iâm QFF Platinum and have not yet experienced the SYD international lounge. Happy to pay a little more for interesting routes and highly recommended airlines.
How should I get there and who should I do it with?
May I suggest Finnair via HKG (you could also go via SIN)
For around $3000 in Y to Budapest and back
You fly CX Y up to Hong Kong and in SYD can expirence the first lounge and in hong kong you could try out the Wing, The Pier, The QF lounge and even the Plaza Premium Lounge
In Helsinki you can use the Finnair Premium Lounge (Recently opened) with Sauna which is for Status only pax
If you want to go via DXB you could always used EK booked on QF codes from SYD via DXB to Budapest and use the SYD first lounge and the DXB first lounge
My next question would be have you go any frequent flyer points to burn?
If you are interested in more interesting routings then
SirLankan Airlines SYD-SIN (QF) SIN-CMB (UL) CMB-CDG (UL) CDG-BUD (AF) and back the sameway would cost $2272 and you get the QF first lounge in SYD, SIN QF Lounge and the UL Lounge in CMB
Qatar Airlines SYD-HKG (CX) HKG-DOH (QR) DOH-BUD (QR) BUD-DOH (QR) DOH-PER (QR) PER-SYD (QF) and would cost $2688 with QF F Lounge SYD, CX Lounges in HKG and QR First Lounge
Youve also got JAL via Tokyo and Helsinki for $2957
Thank you very much for the suggestions so far. I'll dive a little deeper and see what suits best.
Poitns wise I have 300k, a quick classic award search on Qantas didn't come up with much. I would though be happy to spend them on an upgrade on any appliciable legs if I get such luck.
