you may be correct. on checking, for example, on the sunday jq5 flight, at present it will be operated by an A330 and will depart from t2/international at melbourne tullamarine.
handily for future reference, the jetstar website indicates both the departing terminal & operating aircraft type if you click on the little 'i' under the 'flight detail' column.

Jetstar tag-on domestic flights operated between international terminals are the insiders way to travel ex MEL or SYD on a cheap domestic flight while enjoying access to the QF first class lounge :-) (If you have the appropriate QF FF status.)
