Why would you bother? The only logical airport to operate a flight there would be Brisbane, which is only two hours drive away.
A flight would be approximately 30 mins in a Dash-8, once you add 20 minutes boarding time and 15 minutes disembarkation, time to get from the centre of Brisbane to the airport -- 30 minutes by train (including waiting time), and transfer time to get from the airport to wherever it is that you're going in Toowoomba, that's more than two hours.
I agree with what you're saying here, but a flight to Toowoomba from Brisbane would be more like 15 minutes flying time. The Sydney- Canberra sectors (which are double the length) tend to have 25-30 minutes in the air, including a more congested SYD airport to deal with.
So the scheduled gate to gate flight would probably only be 40 minutes tops. Still a useless route though.
I'd have though low frequency Jetstar flight to SYD/MEL would be more likely, or even tourist flights up the Qld coast. Same sort of thing as Newcastle gets, given the geographical similarities. I'd don't know the market though...
I had just heard from a few people in Toowoomba that they wanted to do do a SYD > TWB. Probably not as stupid as BNE>TWB. Whether they would fill the plane or not i dont know.
SYD<>TWB starts July 2 with Skytrans. Will be a Dash-8. Great timesaver for those heading to the Lockyer Valley, Oakey (Army) and surrounding areas from Sydney etc.
Clive Berghofer, the former mayor, did a good job of reducing the town's chance of getting anything more than a Dash8-200 service, by developing right up to the airport's boundary. The runway is too small for even Q400s. The next closest airport is Oakey, but as an army aviation training centre, apparently it is too restrictive for meaningful civilian traffic.
Let's hope the standard gauge, high speed rail to BNE gets a guernsey soon, so commuting to BNE Airport isn't so scary. In the meantime, good luck to Skytrans.

Amazing... A shill question a day before a new route announcement by a different airline.
