Risk equals reward according to qantas. Trying to book a flight to Portland. Status credits vary depending on a short or long connecting flight waiting period eg 90 to 120. Just spoke to qantas and they said I will incur the cost if I cant make the connecting flight due to being held up by customs, security etc. Does not seem fare to me. Has anyone been a victim of this?

I'm confused. Under what circumstances do status credits vary depending on waiting period between flights?

Are both the connecting flights qf code share with a qf flight number?  If so shouldn't make any difference to credits.  Sounds as if one of the connecting flights is not a code share?

Exactly my question Obanpointer...

I had "issues" with US CBP in October last year on a ticket that was SYD-LAX-SJC (single ticket) and missed the connection - both Qantas and AA worked overtime to get me on the next flight to SJC - even looking into booking me onto a SouthWest flight.

Maybe the issue is the longer wait means a discounted fare and thus less SC? I think dls1976 needs to provide more information...
