If I've bought an economy ticket from PER to SYD and have done the Bid to Upgrade w/ Virgin Australia and it was successfully received and now flying business, so I earn Business status credits and points on that flight with Virgin? Or earn Economy points and status credits in that ticket/flight?

You will earn the points and status credits of the original booking

The fare rules of the original ticket purchased will remain in effect, applicable even if an Offer is selected as being successful. Fare rules include, but are not limited to, cancellation policies, change fees, baggage allowances and rules relating to the accrual of Velocity Points and Status Credits. Upgraded Guests are eligible to earn Velocity Points and Status Credits at the rate of their originally purchased tickets, not at the rate of their Upgraded fare.

So you'll only get status credits and points when you pay for the upgrade normally... or buy the ticket outright. All good. Recently my girlfriend and I flew from SYD to Perth on Economy tickets. I upgraded my ticket using Velocity points to Business, and I paid the upgrade fee for her ticket and she got 80 status credits and a lot of velocity points. Thanks for the info guys, first time upgrading using Bid to Upgrade.

Welp, I had to cancel my flight.... the Bid for Upgrade was already approved and granted but I cancelled the flight.

I recieved money back on the airline ticket but NOT the upgrade... lost $575.... anyways I can get it back? I know there is a Refund process of getting a refund but it has to be a damn good reason...

Might try my luck... work got conflicted with schedule of something in Sydney so I've had to stay in Perth..
