Can you use qantas points to upgrade from economy to business on Emirates?

For upgrade you have to have two things: upgradeable Qantas ticket and plane with red tail. So answer is no. Twice.

Unless you're flying with LAN to Santiago on a Qantas QF codeshare, that is – but with Emirates, no upgrades are possible with Qantas points.

Chris, T&C specifically says that it must be ticket issued by QF and it must be QF operated flight.

As part of the roll-out, this was also added to the upgrade T&Cs: "From time to time Classic Upgrade Rewards may be requested on eligible paid and confirmed tickets on codeshare flights operated by another airline with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the ticket."

Interesting. So we need keep watching.

What a poorly written clause if I ever saw one! Do they intend to clarify or keep ambiguous?
