Obanpointer, I live in ADL, and to get to have a taste of the SYD QFi F lounge, I would have to do separate bookings, get to SYD in whY, the night before on one PNR, and then F SYD to AKL on another PNR.
There is not a chance for getting an J ADL to SYD and then F SYD to AKL for me. Same day, always the system will come up with an orange bar up top, option not allowed, or something like that QF cannot find flights with that specification, and a 5 digit error code.
I realise you paid $10k a lot of money and I if it was to be me, would also feel very hard done by. Through ticket too, eh? Definitely QF has made it a rule of thumb that transfer times, will mean that a lot of people who don't live in SYD/MEL/BNE will not have the chance to get full use of these cities F lounges.
If you ever get the chance to do this same thing again down the track, maybe get to SYD the night before, and then get to SYD airport for the international flight, say 4 hours before flight, go and line up to have passport data page scanned 3 hours before flight, then up to the F lounge.
1:50 (1 hr 30 mins or 1 hr 50 mins), just gives you enough time to run from where the QF dom bus drops you off, rush to immigration with express path, rush through int security where you put your hand up in mock surrender, into the full body scanner, rush off to near gate 10 where the QF lounges are, rush up, grab a quick bite or drink, then down to gate.
Too short. 2:30 hrs / 3 hrs gives a bit of time to play with, but 1:50 is very tight, even if you get priority boaridng (Zone A) onto the plane.
Best of luck, give it a try, and come back and let us know how it turns out.
