Can someone please explain the following to me? I notice that on qantas international routes more often than not it is the same price or cheaper to have multiple stops than it is to go direct but on domestic routes it is the opposite. Why is that? Is it to deter people from doing local status runs?
It happens and happens quite a bit. Many shorter routes dearer than longer ones. For example BKK-HEL-LED by AY is cheaper than BKK-HEL. Looks like it something with arriving/departure tax that varies a lot. There are no such issues with domestic flights.

No idea. Other people may know. But it also stumps me that with Qantas it is cheaper to go to London than Dubai?!
