You could also just make it in a large IKEA plunger! Quality freshly roasted, freshly ground brewed coffee with some fresh milk and a little sugar can make a lovely boost. It's cheap and easy to maintain, too.
I know a lot of us are more espresso people, but at the very least this is a fantastic backup for when the espresso machine is under maintenance.
DeLonghi also has quite a range of automatic cofffee machines that do not require pods, although i personally have the oracle because i fell in love with it.
the DeLonghi fully automatic ones dont use pods too, and you go from freshly ground beans to coffee with the press of a button. could be another one to look at too
