Can any Aussie business travellers with recent experience offer advice on the security and personal safety situation when working in Dakar and in-country remote Senegal? I might have a job there soon, but don't know much about that part of Africa.

Of all the places I worked in Africa- Senegal felt one of the safest. Compared to Nigeria (especially Lagos), they treat you no different than a local. The further you go from a major city, the safer I felt. It's an amazing country- the accents are something else. Have a great time but always be a little more vigilant, if it doesn't feel safe- make arrangements quickly
