I have a trip coming up and the seat map looks like an older 747 that has not been refurbished. I have the option to pick what looks like the old first class seats on a J ticket. How is the product compared to the MkII skybeds?
The old QF skybed on the unrefurbished 747's is angle lie flat as supposed to fully flat on the upgraded 744 and A380.. The old first class cabin is fully flat and actually rather comfy (although a bit dated)! I had it on HKG to SYD a few years ago and I got a fantastic sleep. What route are you flying?
I'll be the last one complaining though. If it's going to be an older plane then aging first class no doubt has to be better than aging business class.
Enjoyed a flight up to Singapore last year with an upgrade to the old First cabin. Only issue was that I had 4 window shades to pull down and up! ;) A pleasant flight.

My flight HND to SYD shows an older one.

+1. I flew to NRT in the old "First Class" Cabin a month ago and had a great sleep.
