I'm flying Sydney to Melbourne in Economy on Friday, and in the meal description it tells me I'm getting 'Lunch', not refreshment like I've seen in the past. Does this mean I will be getting a full lunch service, or just a sandwich or something like that? Thanks.

The lunch is basically a hot refreshment, if that makes sense. You'll get the beverage service and everything but the actual food itself is not very substantial as the focus is primarily on breakfast and dinner; expect something like a packaged quiche or filled pastry.
Definitely don't expect a full tray lunch; if you need a full meal and don't have lounge access, you'd best eat it in town before heading out to the airport as Terminal 3 (where your Qantas domestic flight will depart from) has rather limited dining options.

Or the MoVida cafe in terminal 2 through security. Probably a 10 minute walk including clearing T3 security.

T2 has some nice options like the Tap House.

There's a nice noodle place, plus sushi as well in T3 - whilst I don't use them often due to club access I do know the noodle place is pretty good.
A guide I always use is look at where the pilots are eating!

That's Wok On Air tucked in the corner, isn't it?

Yeah, I'll definitely be going to the lounge, so that's not a problem. Thanks anyway though!

QF has expanded the time that they serve "lunch" and "dinner" by about half an hour each side of what it was prior to the change. Think it was earlier this year or late last year they made the change.
My aim is one day, to try the "dinner" service on a wide body in J MEL/SYD or vv. Think QF only has one that flies between MEL and SYD lunch and dinner time with the plane being a wide bodied 330.
Hard to find now that the 767s have gone to "aeroplane heaven".

I've done the widebody dinner service several times on B767 aircraft. It was like a proper international service on a proper international flight, except that the flight only consisted of takeoff, dinner and landing.
