Melbourne Airport Exit
Not sure if this has been asked before (Please forgive me if it has) but roughly how long does it take to exit the airport at Melbourne? I didn't find any AusBT coverage on it, and in fact, I would appreciate some 'Airport Guides' for Australian airports for international business travellers. I found one of AKL and JFK but none of any Australian airports. I often travel to Sydney for most of my meetings but never to Melbourne by plane before. Thanks

I forgot to mention that I'm arriving from an international flight into Terminal 2. Thanks.

I think the recent increase in Melbourne flights has highlighted a lack of people space as Passport control queues can snake forever on departure.
Passport control on arrival means queues go way past the duty free shop
The baggage carousels can take a long time too and then you have the Customs to contend with.
So it's 3 long queues on arrival if you hit at the peak time. Not fun

.... and today it took me 50 minutes with an Australian passport, express card for Customs (including 30 mins waiting for baggage)
I reckon you could easily double that time with a foreign passport, no express pass etc.

It all depends on the time of day. Get an Express card if you can. Melbourne recently started an Express card lane at the last hurdle out i.e. where they vet your yellow forms and make an assessment through profiling if you're smuggling contraband.

Faster too if you have an APEC card.

When we arrived at the airport at 9pm or something around that on EK from AKL, it took around an hour to get out. We had foreign passports, maybe that contributed a lot of the time. Had to declare some things so they checked the bags and stuff, if you don't have to declare then I guess you will be through much quicker.

I must always be lucky. I'm generally straight through immigration using the kiosks (maybe have to wait for one person in front of me but that's rare). Baggage can take some time but I'm often travelling with only carry on so not always a problem and then a max of 5-10 minutes at customs (but again often straight out). I've been outside waiting for a taxi 20 mins after touching down on more than one occasion.
