I am off to the USA in July - Sydney to NY then return LAX to Sydney and weighing up my options for business class and I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on travel at 30 weeks pregnant!
- QF: I am platinum and this would be my preferred option but it is $2k more expensive than the other 2 so hard to justify with work.
- United: Cheapest option, but pregnancy guidelines appear rather strict.
- Virgin: 2nd cheapest, but again require a medical clearance within 10 days after 28 weeks.
Any travellers out there who did the USA at 30 weeks?

Virign have a 2-3-2 layout on their Business class. I can't speak for what it's like being 30 weeks pregnant, but I would think you probably don't want to have to deal with someone either between you and the aisle, or wanting to get past you to get out.
Maybe direct Aisle access + airline policy makes this decision for you?

Suggest travelling QF and book middle bank of seats so you have direct aisle access and no-one has to step past you.

My wife travelled at 30+ weeks and had to show a doctors certificate and complete a waiver making the airline not liable for any complications. The process usually took about 5 minutes at check-in and didn't seem like a big deal.
I haven't flown the other 2 airlines but if you decide to go with QF it is worth making sure your aircraft is an A380 as opposed to the older 747's. The seats are the same but the flight just felt quieter, smoother and more enjoyable.. Plus with your platinum status you may even get bumped up to 1st.
Good luck!

As a UA Platinum FF may I recommend avoiding United for these flights. The 777 long haul seat config is cramped at 20' width in a 2-4-2 layout when VA is 2-3-2 with 23" width. Look at Seatguru.com for the dates you are travelling to find the scheduled carrier config. If UA is preferred then route via Melbourne. Whilst it takes longer the 787-9 is superior in every way, seat config., cabin pressure and crew service - hard to believe it is the same airline. They may even do gerkins and banana for breakfast (on request).
