As my old man used to say "if you have to ask, you cant afford it"
Qantas return prices start at $4118 and go up and beyond $5698.

China Southern seems to have some pretty low premium economy prices. I haven't heard anything which makes me want to fly their product though.
Seriously though, why is the OP asking this? Does the OP not realise that there's a dozen airfare-search sites by which he can get the relevant answer for a particular day?

Much better to go onto kayak.com and do a scan of best available fares as they often come up with cheap J seats at a comparable price. If you are parting with $5K you should be in full recline mode :)

My last Europe trip I made two separate bookings: Melbourne to Bangkok in economy, and then Bangkok to Europe in business. Biz-class flights originating from SE Asia are *waaay* cheaper than originating from Australia. Wound up paying slightly less than premium economy the whole way, and I got to lie flat for the longer section of the flight.
That said, I probably wouldn't do it again, it was too much trouble and too much hanging around in Bangkok. Next time I fly to Europe on my own dime I'll probably just fly economy the whole way and arrive not-insignificantly richer.
Premium economy on most airlines is a gyp, 30% more space for 100% more money. No thanks. Air New Zealand is an exception though if you get the SpaceSeat.

You are right about SE Asian flight prices; A colleague of mine recently booked J from HKT to VIE and returning from MXP to SIN on Etihad for $3200 per-person. Is going to enjoy a few days on the beach on his way up and a few days in Singapore on his way back. Only issue is the quirky J layout on the Etihad plane.
