Baggage when transferring to Schengen flight from non-Schengen flight.
Hi guys, I'm unfamiliar with the baggage procedures around transferring from a non-Schengen flight to a Schengen flight and can't seem to find too much info elsewhere. I'm flying HKG->HEL->WAW, will I need to collect and re-check bags in Helsinki, or do they just get transferred through? Thanks in advance!

Hey there westie I just returned home from Europe, I went SYD-SIN-ZRH-ATH and my bags went straight through to Athens without any problems, an added bonus was the lack of passport queues in Zurich as compared to those coming in from a non-schegen country in Athens. Hope this helps, have a nice trip

Bags are cleared at final destination for all flights to the EU. This managed by bag tags.
Tags issued within the EU have green borders on the tag so are eligible for the Blue EU exit. Plain white tags must use the Green and Red exits as appropriate.

The answer given by X is correct:
In your case, you would pick up your bag in WAW, but exit the hall via "arrivals from outside the EU" lane, as your bag tags won't have the green borders. Your plane mates flying just HEL-WAW will exit via the "arrivals from within the EU" lane as their bag tags will have the green borders.
