Seat maps are not indicative of how full a flight is since a lot of people don't pre-allocate seats. Also, as far as I know, flightaware took away their free seat map service.

Actually, the previously mentioned sites are not just for seat maps. They are useful if all you want to know is if there's 9 or less seats in the cabin.

Flight aware also used to show availablity by fare class F0J9Y7 etc. but to be honest I haven't used it much as I have a EF account now! Totally agree that seat maps are no bloody use
