Hi Guys, I am travelling with United from SYD to SFO and I was wondering that if I bought United Club membership would I be able to use a lounge in SYD?

I called United Club and they said that I would only be able to use United's lounges, but the Star Alliance site says otherwise.

Contrary to the information provided on United.com, you will have access to the Air New Zealand & Singapore AIrlines Lounges in Sydney with a United Club annual membership. I recommend that you compare your options as the $600 USD price tag (annual + initiaton fee) for the membership is quite high if you only plan to access a handful of lounges with it. Perhaps you should look into purchasing a day pass at one of the lounges in SYD. The Skyteam Lounge sells passes for $77 AUD and the Air New Zealand Lounge has been known in the past to sell passes for $55 AUD, however AirNZ reserves the right to not offer passes during certain peak periods when the lounge is quite busy and for other factors so keep that in mind. On the flip side, if you plan to fly back on United, you could pay for a day pass at Air France Lounge for $50 USD, but that lounge is on the opposite concourse of the United concourse if you dont mind a short walk. If you do pay for the Club membership, you'd have access to United, Singapore, and EVA Air lounges in SFO.
