Can you fly MEL to GRU using AA Advantage rewards? I can't quite make sense of their zoning system.

I believe you can but only via the Pacific. If you route via Europe, it will require 2 awards; one from AU to Europe and another from Europe to South America.
Would that be flying via somewhere like NAN?
I've also checked out the QF options SYD to SCL; but reward seats are only available in Y. Looking at travelling in October.
Yes you could route it via NAN. Across the pacific on QF metal will be next to impossible in J on short notice.
Thanks. Do you if the zoning would allow MEL - AUH - GRU via EY?
Yes that is allowed but will constitute 2 awards. AU to Mid East then Mid East to South America.
