Hi
A travel agent has booked a flight for a family member in Business class on Qantas to the US but the name in the booking when viewed from the Qantas website appears as "[firstname]ms [lastname]" with the first name and last name boxes as my name.
Is this ok for travel to the US cause last time I booked a QF flight myself it did not appear like that but the travel agent says that its ok if it appears like that and that it normally happens like that
I am a bit concerned that the APIS data comes back as a fail as this is for a work meeting and I don't want to show up at the airport in a month only to be denied boarding from my flight to DFW

Happens all the time. It is how the name is normally printed out on the boarding ticket

Same thing happened to me when I booked a trip to Manchester earlier this year. I saw many variations of my name, which usually had my title after my first name (Ie. [surname]/[first name]MR or [first name]MR/[surname]). My agent reassured me there wouldn't be any problems with earning my FF points or immigration/customs procedures. And he was correct - wasn't denied boarding or held up by immigration/security and got all my points!

You went to a Flight Centre company didn't you?
This is something that happens by default to bookings made in some GDSs, such as Galileo (which is what Flight Centre uses).
This is something immigration/security/airline staff see all the time and won't cause any issue. Although I find it annoying and would prefer to not have any sort of title period.

For domestic travel we can book it our self but the international travel needs to be done through FMC
