I'll be transiting between Europe and Australia next week (Emirates), with an overnight stopover in Dubai (to break the journey). I was considering the Dubai International Hotel for the overnight stay which is located within the airport terminal. The hotel advises that guests will not be able to retrieve checked luggage (as you do not clear customs). As such, I am wondering whether my checked luggage will be automatically routed through to my departing flight to Australia the next morning. Does anyone know ?
Yes, your baggage will go onto your flight from DXB to Australia. Only if it were tagged to DXB would that not happen. I thoroughly recommend the hotel. Very comfortable, with a pool to stretch out in. Be aware there are two parts to it, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Make sure you are booked into the one at T3. Give the hotel details of your flights when booking. You can request for a hotel staff member to meet you at the aircraft and escort you through terminal security (not immigration, you don't do that) to reception. I always ask for that service, which is complimentary but do tip your escort about 30 dirhams (US$8). It doesn't matter what class you're flying, just give your EK seat number to the hotel so they know which airbridge to meet you at.
