Hi everyone, I'm traveling MEL - SYD - SCL - GRU next month and wondering what the check-in and checked baggage processes would be.
As the first leg is domestic do i need to retrieve my checked baggage at SYD Domestic and then check it in again at international? Or will it follow me all the way because it's booked on the same ticket on QF and QF codeshares.
Also there's 2hrs between my arrival in SYD and departure to SCL - is this enough time to check-in etc and transit to the international terminal?

If you are in the same ticket the whole way, you should be able to check your bags through the whole way. Just go to the International Connections desk at the Melbourne domestic terminal and they will help you. At they very least you'll be able to get your SYD SCL boarding pass here, if checkin haven't opened for your leg onward from SCL then you will be able to collect that boarding pass at the transfers desk in SCL
When you arrive in SYD, proceed to the international connections area to be bused over to the Sydney international terminal. Just have your boarding pass for the SYD to SCL leg.

Thanks njmal. I've never had to transit in Sydney before, it's good to know that it seems relatively straight forward.

Yes your luggage should be tagged and checked through to GRU at MEL. Mine was.
As an FYI on arrival at SCL you will pass through security again, to make your way to the departure gates for the flight over to Sao Paulo. Avoid buying liquids duty free more than 100ml in Sydney.
SCL has a wonderfully compact international terminal. Distances between gates short. The food options are relatively limited, however moving passed the american fast food chains to the very end, there is a small cafe offering hot and cold drinks and sandwiches.
The view as you fly over the Andes is superb, get a window seat if you can. Boa Viagem!

Thanks Looking, great tips! I've never been to South America before so I'm super-duper excited!
I have pre-selected a window seat online so hopefully I get to keep that. I'm flying in Premium and have read online that the windows may be potentially misaligned on the 747 - so hopefully I still get to take in this view!
