Star Alliance Lounge Access (TBIT) - I am flying from MEL to DEN via LAX on United (Business First). I have a 4 hour layover in LAX - will I be able to access the Star Alliance Lounge in TBIT. I don't mind clearing security twice - from the reviews the TBIT lounge is far superior to the UA Club in LAX.

Do you hold Star Alliance Gold Status with an airline other than United? If not, then the answer is No to any lounge at LAX. You are only allowed access to a lounge when departing on an international flight from that local airport. In other words, you'd have access to the lounge in MEL. You may wish to purchase a day pass to the United Club lounge for $50 USD. Unfortunately, flying first class to a domestic destination on United does not entitle lounge access even when coming off an international flight. However, if you are flying back in BusinessFirst to MEL, then you could visit the TBIT lounge if you have enough time. I wouldn't recommend it as the United terminal where your United flight departs is one of the farthest terminals from TBIT so you'd be doing a fair bit of walking as well as having to meander through all the crowds and lines of people.
