Hi everyone. Has anyone ever booked a flight using Expedia? If so, would you recommend it? I'm looking at buying flights for family members to fly from Johannesburg to Brisbane. Per Qantas website, it will be $6400 for a family of four flying in economy. Per Expedia, it will be $4600. Obviously I would prefer to book with Qantas directly but $1800 is a fairly significant price difference. thanks in advance for your help.
Expedia is perfectly fine - the only thing to keep an eye on is the actual flight number you're being booked on as it may affect your frequent flyer earning rates and benefits (eg. if it's a QF code, that's easy, but if it's something else booked as a codeshare you'll want to check how that affects any frequent flyer arrangements).
I booked BA flights from SYD>BKK a few years back and had to cancel. Had to cancel due to unforseen issue - took 2 months to get a refund. No one answers the phone in the call centre.. If its a good deal - then get it. Just check the T's & C's.. Otherwise can you do a screen grab of the flights and take it to flight centre?

Refund from Expedia? An oxymoron.

Better to book it with Qantas and then use their price promise guarantee to match the expedia.com.au price the same day after booking it.

I did this recently, and Qantas refunded the difference and gave me a whole load of bonus frequent flyer points.
webiste has to end in .au, though (expedia.com.au)

No problem - just make sure it's exactly the same fare conditions (as outlined in the Qantas FAQs).
