We are a family of 4 (2A 2C, 8,11yrs), travelling to Singapore on SIA at end of Dec. i have 2 questions i hope you can help with:
1 as a velocity gold member can i use the SIA lounge prior to flight when the ticket is booked as a SQ flight number.
2 the velocity rules suggest i can only take 1 guest into the SIA lounge. From people's observations, has anyone had any luck getting additional guests (family) into this lounge with a velocity gold card?
Thanking you in advance.

I certainly hope you don't get extra guests i.e. your children into this or any other lounge. Why should they be occupying space rightly reserved for premium customers and frequent flyers?

He is a frequent flyer. He has velocity gold status with VA and singapore airlines is a major shareholder of VA.

Right, and in SIA lounges as such he gets one guest, not three. The shareholding is totally irrelevant. His children are neither premium customers nor frequent flyers. I repeat my question - why should they be occupying space rightly reserved for others?

In the case that the lounge is full of premium guests and frequent flyers then yes those rules should be applied. But in the case that there is plenty of room, then it cannot harm the company to extend a hand to its loyal customers.

Poorly said. Plenty of room when Lud and his crew arrive at the lounge doesn't mean plenty of room later. And it can harm the company - if space starts to get tight are Lud and Co going to be asked to leave? If not, those who've actually paid to be there have every right to be annoyed. Freeloading should be discouraged.

I don't know about VA, but QF have allowed me extra guests so I can enter lounges with my family of 4. The One World lounges and partner airlines have not always been as helpful.

I asked a mate that flew SIA to Europe with his partner and two kids. He's also VA Gold and said he's still not sure what the rules are but had no problem getting his family in each way to the Krisflyer Gold lounge

One of my colleagues recently went to Singapore, and wasn't able to get in with gold with his 2 kids, unsure if they've tightened the rules, or if he was just unlucky. I would certainly try to get in though, you've got nothing to lose.
If you can't get in, I wouldn't worry too much, the gold lounge in Singapore isn't that great, there are no toilets or showers actually located in the lounge.

This is the actual policy.
https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/experience/at-the-airport/international-lounge-access/
In addition to your normal membership entitlement, Velocity Platinum and Gold members can bring two children aged between two and 12 years, and all infants under two years of age, into Virgin Australia domestic lounges, free of charge.
So you're fine in Australia, but in Singapore, you're out of luck...if they follow the policy.
I would still give it a shot though.
