Just wondering why it's so expensive to fly to the USA in April? Also, any suggestions of a sale for the Month of April?

School holidays, easter, US spring, general demand. What's expensive to you? I did a random search on Webjet - SYD to LAX return, April 8th to 23rd. $1465 all-in with China Eastern. If you're super keen just sign up for all the deals emails and check the web every day. You never know who will have a random spot sale.

Duvel, I know exactly what you mean. SYD-LAX prices have sky rocketed in the last year. V.A used to have flights back in 2011 for as little as $1200 return, now the cheapest I can properly find them is just under that one way. Although what tronixstuff has said is true, I personally wouldn't want to be flying on China Eastern and having to stopover at Shanghai, adding a ridiculous amount of hours onto the commute. Maybe the prices will change?

I was able to get tickets RT to LAX in May next year about one month ago for $1150 on VA. The trick seems to be, when QF have a special, VA do not seem to change there advertising , but bring out cheap fares for the same period anyway.
