LAX Qantas First Lounge access for almost Platinum Members.

Morning all. I fly out of LAX on Thanksgiving. I currently have 1395 status credits in the bag which is just 5 shy of the magic 1400 for first time platinum. I will reach platinum after my LAX to SYD flight home. Do any of you guys and gals out there have any tips for helping me convince Qantas staff into allowing me to gain entry into the first lounge or am I living in a fantasy land?

In my experience it's highly unlikely you'll be able to convince lounge staff.

Your best bet is probably to ring up Qantas and ask them to comp you the last 5 status credits, or to temporarily bump you up to Platinum for the duration of the trip based on your forward bookings.

Agreed with domesticgoddess - the contract staff have no real ability here, and after recent issues are likely to be enforcing the correct rules in full

The lounge at an outpost may not even have access to your SC balance. You could be on 605 SC's for all they know, but it'll show gold or plat or whatever your status is. I like domesticgoddss' idea of contacting Qantas prior.
