I was browsing through some Wikipedia pages and on the Qantaslink and AirNorth pages it mentioned something about Qantas leasing Embraer -700s & -900s from Airnorth from 2016, does anyone know if there is any reliable source for this info? And would anyone else happen to know more about this?
On 9 July 2008, Airnorth announced that it had acquired and operate its second Embraer 170 through a Lease/Purchase contract with Jetscape; it was the first Embraer 170-AR (Advanced Range) to be built and was delivered to Airnorth from the Embraer factory in April 2009.[13][14] A third E-170 formerly operated by defunct SkyAirWorld was added to the fleet in April 2010.[15] Qantas announced that Airnorth has give an extansion to fly 5 ERJ 170 and ERJ 190 for Qantas from 2016. 5 190's on order and 1 170 due for delivery 2016.
It may well be QantasLink are going to get Airnorth to operate some of its services across the north. Airnorth have already taken over the Darwin - Gove- Cairns route and also operate Darwin - Townsville. They could take over Darwin - Alice, Cairns - Alice and other routes. It would be a bad step if Air North was to take any services from QF, the service is terrible, never any reward seats available, no select seats or online check if purchased as a QF ticket, 20kg bag limit is very strict, planes are late regularly by many hours, it is a poor product. I fly Townsville - Darwin regularly and have returned to flying via BNE to avoid Airnorth.
