Hi all, Im about to book a ticket AKL to BNE with China Airlines and noticed a business class special $400 one way. Is this good value for money? Hows the seating, food ans service? Aircraft used will be a Boeing 744, any recommendations as to where to sit e.g. upper deck?
Fare approx NZD 250 cheaper than other options. You should get access to new Air NZ lounge at Auckland. Recent China Al reviews I have seen, have been quite positive and 747s recently refurbished. For what is only a three hour flight, it is probably well worth a try!
Price would have to be excellent for Business class, the Emperor Lounge in Auckland is the old Emirates lounge, it's wonderful, but has no windows, it wont worrry you, enjoy what it offers, food and drinks, computers and showers etc, all very good standard. I'm thinking of doing the same Melbourne to Chrstchurch China Airlines.

China Airlines uses the Emperor Lounge in Auckland now, not the Air NZ lounge – some pics here.
